Well after surviving some jackass trying to kill me and Val last Sunday I’m all done for the season after tomorrow night. My new jetta is totaled and now I will need surgery to repair my arm after snapping my bicep tendon last Friday working on the hot rod. Man I’ve had some bad weeks but last week takes the cake. We are just glad we walked away from it and thank god for the airbags because I know they most likely saved my life. Well here goes, me and Jeff are going back to the Ridge for one last stab at it. Even with one arm last Friday the car was great in the feature so I think I finally got the set up and the track down, of course now that I’m going to be out of action for 10-12 weeks….man this sucks! Hope to see ya there and wish us luck….talk soon. I’m out of words already….later.

I didnt update ya from last week. Got 4th in the heat race and then in the feature I was 7th(lap 12) and coming off turn 2 my driveshaft broke. I want to thank whoever invented the safety loop that keeps that thing from breaking my ankles…scary stuff but the safety aspect is there-worked as advertised. Anyways the ol girl is loaded up and I’m heading out the door. Rained all week and the track should be lighting fast and heavy…I hate the dry dust. Wish me luck, looks like me and Jeff tonight.

Weather looks good…

For tomorrow night May 7th. Not too bad last week for opening points night…placed 2nd in my qualifier and finished 8th (out of 24)in the feature. And now for the excuse….my right front brake was on during the first 15 laps. Brandi noticed it from the stands and so did Val in the pit stands. Thanks Kris Kamburelis for helping me out. You and Val were awesome. Pretty much a flawless night and things moved along well. So we will see what happens when all wheels are turning for the duration of the race!! Hope to see ya there, the hot rod is good and so is the competition…gotta get it done. Wish me luck

First night at the Ridge

Well, as expected full contact short track stuff, mostly self induced. The car was awesome and I was very satisfied with the way the car ran. I can only complain about the driver, yup missed my marks a couple of times and the end result was a banged up race car and some lessons learned. I had a lot of lookers and a couple of comments on how well the car looked. All in all a good “shakedown” night and I have to admit, I think I was a little over exited and maybe a little out of control but lessons learned to say the least. I managed to damage just about every panel on the car but got the damage pretty much under control now. Another trip to Jumpin Jacks Pro Speed shop for a couple of parts and back to the races. Hope to ya next Friday…weather looks good and it’s the firdst points night for us. Wish me luck!!

Tomorrow night at Glen Ridge…in case you don’t know where it is- take 5S all the to Fonda, blinking red light take a left,(if you take a right you go to Fonda) so at the light at the end of 5s take a left on 30A, head up the hill take a right at the Glen ridge sign proceed about 2 miles take another right at the Glen Ridge sign, proceed another mile or so (look out for the cows in the road!!) and then another right at the next Glen Ridge sign and come on down the road at the end you will see the track.Well I am really pumped about Friday night and the points got moved til next Friday, so its pretty much a shake down night for the car. Dont let that fool ya, I’m going for it when the green drops…wish me luck. Update to follow, see ya there!!Mike

But unfortunately mother nature is in control. Well after a whirlwind couple of weeks it came down to missing last weeks practice and this week rained out. Can’t say we didn’t try because I’ve averaged 11-11:30 every night in the garage for the last 2 weeks. Kris and Jeff came over last Thursday and we went until 3:30 am and got up at 7am and started at it again. Jeff and I went until 6pm Friday and threw in the towel. I had an electrical problem that we just couldn’t find until the next day. So that was my first shot at practice that went to the wayside. And now rain cancelled the first full night of racing (no points) so that means going into next Friday being a points night and me never being in the car….should be interesting. I will attach a couple of photo’s of the hot rod, I am beyond happy about how the car came out!! Awesome job by Ricky @ R3 Graphics in Broadalbin. So we can try it again next Friday and let’s hope for sunny skies and warm temps!!See ya out there, Mike

Sorry folks, a little password problem was the hold up to updating this time. So here we go, this Saturday, March 27th, at The Robins Nest 230 Stevers Mills rd in Broadalbin. Doors are open at 4pm and the band starts at 6pm. We will have The Bellaires for our listening pleasure and wait until you see the raffle prizes. It was really hard to not keep them for myself but I have to stay focused!! haha….well the body is getting lettered up this week and I ordered the new motor yesterday and the car is almost complete. I missed out on the last 2 weeks following surgery to fix up my old bones in my left knee. I tried to time it between snowmobiling and racing and I almost cut it too close. Well anyways hope to see everyone there and I am looking forward to a great time!! The only downfall (gotta watch how I say that) is that I WILL NOT BE DANCING!!! If anyone see’s me dancing please stop me…Have to take care of my knee for the long haul. Still looking at $15 per person or $25 a couple to get in. Lots of good eats,keg beer and cash bar…..can’t wait!! See ya thereMike

You gotta be kidding me!! Winter is almost over?? Ok, lets get racing…..well this winter really sucked huh? Looks like a storm finally coming in this week and that should be it for me. With the season coming up soon I’ve elected to have surgery on my knee so that I am healed up for the season opener. April 9th is the first practice and then the 16th is opening night. In case I forget, Malta is a thing of the past, cant believe I’m saying that but I am not racing on asphalt. My Fridays are going to spent at Glen Ridge Speedway where it all started 3 long yrs ago. I hope to hit some more new tracks this year as well. New car, new motor coming and some nice equipment for the new hotrod all around. Getting pumped already. I am still trying to come up with the new colors and paint scheme…sleepless nights are filled with great ideas.So hang loose folks and I will update soon. Spent Friday and Saturday down at Brett Hearn’s chassis and shock seminar and picked up some very useful information. Also, I had Ronnie Johnson offer me to bring my new hotrod over to Jumpin Jacks speed shop and go through some set up stuff with me. It’s pretty cool that he pulled me aside and told me that he had some ideas that he could throw at me…man, if I don’t win this year…………………….ah forget it. I smell a championship baby, thats right!! Thats how I’m approaching this year. I got some cool new sponsor’s on board as well- The Auto Haus (Rt 50 in Glenville), The Bad Pig Saloon (Rt 5s Rotterdam jct) Sharp Auto Glass (Rotterdam/Schdy) K-Bass towing (Saratoga), and the old reliables Mohawk Motorsports (Amsterdam), Richter Construction/Miami Sun Tanning and The Krystal Lodge on the Sacandaga (Broadalbin) thanks Jeremy.Ok, thats a good start….I know you’ve all been waiting for the season opening blog!!
